FAQ19: Changing cache settings

QUESTION:
How do I set my browser to check for new versions of stored pages every time a page is visited?
ANSWER:
Microsoft® Internet Explorer 5.x and higher PC:
- Select Internet Options from the Tools menu.
- Click the Settings button.
- Under Check for newer version of stored pages,, verify that there is a check in the box next to Every visit to the page.
- Click OK.
- Click OK.
- Refresh the browser.
Microsoft® Internet Explorer 5.2x and above Mac OS X:
- Select Preferences from the Explorer menu.
- Under the Web browser drop-down box, select Advanced.
- Under Upate Pages: verify that Always is selected.
- Click OK.
- Refresh the browser.
Internet Explorer 5.x on Mac OS 9.x and below:
- Select Preferences from the Edit menu.
- Under the Web browser drop-down box, select Advanced.
- Under Upate Pages: verify that Always is selected.
- Click OK.
- Refresh the browser.
Netscape 6.x and above PC and Mac OS 9.x and below:
- Select Preferences from the Edit menu.
- Click the arrow next to Advanced in the Category list.
- Click Cache.
- Under Compare the page in the cache to the page on the network:, verify that there is a check in the box next to Every time I view the page.
- Click OK.
- Refresh the browser.
Netscape 7.x and above Mac OS X:
- Select Preferences from the Netscape menu.
- Click the arrow next to Advanced in the Category list.
- Click Cache.
- Under Compare the page in the cache to the page on the network:, verify that there is a check in the box next to Every time I view the page.
- Click OK.
- Refresh the browser.
