QUESTIONS:
Nothing happens when I click LOG ON. What's wrong?
Nothing happens when I click the link for features such as Glossary and Question Box. What's wrong?
SYMPTOMS:
- Nothing happens after entering the username and password.
- Nothing happens after clicking the link for features such as Glossary and Question Box.
- A JavaScript warning appears in the browser status bar and nothing happens.
ANSWER:
This can happen if there is ad or pop-up blocking software installed on your computer. When LOG ON is clicked, the program attempts to open in a new window. Certain program features, such as Glossary and Question Box also open in new windows. Pop-up blockers stop these new windows from opening. To resolve the issue, the pop-up blocker must either be turned off while using LarsonMath.com or it must be set to allow pop-ups from "larsonmath.com" and "larsonlearning.com."
Users may not be aware that there is pop-up blocking software on their computers. It is a hidden feature of many popular downloadable Internet toolbars and various browser plug-ins. Therefore, a thorough search of all computers that will use LarsonMath.com is necessary if you are having an issue. If you cannot locate any pop-up blocking software, ask your systems administrator for help identifying such software.
- If the user has installed a pop-up blocker to his/her computer, he/she should view the documentation that came with the software or contact the manufacturer's technical support in order to learn how to disable the pop-up blocker or to set it to allow pop-ups from "larsonmath.com" and "larsonlearning.com."
- If the browser that is being used has built-in pop-up blocking software (e.g., Internet Explorer on Windows XP SP2), search the browser's Help contents for information about turning the pop-up blocker off or setting it to allow certain sites.
For specific information regarding the pop-up blocker that is part of Internet Explorer on Windows XP SP2, view this Microsoft Knowledge Base article. To use LarsonMath.com, "larsonmath.com" and "larsonlearning.com" can be added to the Allowed sites list or the filter level can be set to Medium or Low.
- If a search engine toolbar has been installed to the browser that is being used (e.g., Yahoo, MSN), search the web for documentation or contact the manufacturer's technical support in order to learn how to disable the pop-up blocker or to set it to allow pop-ups from "larsonmath.com" and "larsonlearning.com." These toolbars can be downloaded directly. Some are installed as part of a package with other downloadable software (such as Shockwave) and often contain pop-up blockers.
- If there is security software running on the computer, view the documentation that came with the software or contact the manufacturer's technical support to learn more about the software's Internet security settings. The security software may have a pop-up blocker and/or other Internet security settings that must be altered to allow pop-ups from "larsonmath.com" and "larsonlearning.com."
